Hazelbury is proud to have their very own school parliament! This is an opportuntiy to hear the views of all pupils through a democratic process.
Each class has a class councillor. The councillors are responsible for collecting the views and issues raised in their classes. In Year Six, instead of councillors, each class has two MPs (Members of Parliment) who lead their council in bi-weekly meetings. They take minutes and chair the meeting, supported by a Deputy Headteacher. These councils are arranged in Hazelbury Family groupings.
The MPs from each Hazelbury Family then meet with the Associate Headteacher each half term.
A special 'Polling Day' takes place to vote for the councillors and MPs- children have to visit the school hall to vote on ballot papers and enter into a box.
Please see details in the pages on the left of the individual family councillors and MPs as well as details about how they are ensuring pupil voice is heard.
